Hope House Newsletter May 2020

So here we are – May already – and we as the Trustees have agreed that we will send out regular newsletters and will rotate each trustee in turn to compile them, as we realise that our contact with donors and supporters has not been the best.

My name is David.  I joined Hope House as a volunteer to cook for the residents one day a week and to get alongside them during the meal.  Then we had one house with the ability to house five residents.  Time has moved on, and in 2019 I became a trustee, and we now have two houses with the ability to house eight residents.

On 23 March, the UK went into lockdown, and Hope House was no different.  We have placed both houses into lockdown, which has posed us with some difficult challenges.

When residents move forward from Hope House they continue to be a part of our family, and we are currently looking at the possibility of employing an Community Support Worker to develop further the Hope House community, working not only with former residents but also with other people in need on our streets.

Everything we have achieved so far and everything we aspire to do in the future would not be possible without all of you, our donors and supporters, so we thank you for your support so far and trust your support will continue going forward.

So, we will, with your help, continue to “break the cycle of homelessness” and commit to keep you informed on a regular basis of our developing situation.
